Installing a Rosette
Before you begin to install your rosette you may want to darken the background. Simply use black acrylic paint and a small brush. Paint where the rosette will sit so there is a nice contrast and the rosette stands out against the dark background.
The easiest way to install a rosette: Just cut a slightly undersized hole and glue the rosette to the rim so it sits on top of the wood. The rosette hides the edges of the hole, so you need not be perfectly accurate with your cutting.
Cut a shallow hole slightly larger than the rosette. This is done by purchasing a Forstner bit 1/8" larger than the Rosette you want to install. Use a drill press to drill a hole with a depth equal to the thickness of the Rosette. This adds a nice margin around the rosette, highlighting the laser-cut edges.
Cut the hole to the exact size of the rosette. If the soundboard is only 1/8” thick, you will need to support the rosette underneath with some tabs or a ring.
